3 reasons why content waste is costing you time and money.

What does Pane Cotto with Swiss Chard have in common with your content?

It's all about WASTE! Pane Cotto is an Italian dish that takes dried-out, stale bread and turns it into a delicious mouthwatering dish of food. Creating and only using content one time causes you to need to produce LOTS of unnecessary content. Repurposing and reusing already created content saves you time and money. It also reduces the need to make so much new content.

Why are either of these important to you? Because one is an easy-to-make tasty recipe that reduces the food waste in your kitchen. And the other increases the ROI of your content and creative juices while saving you time and money.

Here are three good reasons why you WANT to start using repurposing and reusing to cut down on content waste.

Consistency is the Key to Success In Online Marketing

Consistency is so freaking important when you're building a business online Because if you aren't then things either take A LOT longer to happen for you OR they don't happen.

It's because the online world moves so freaking fast if you drop off. As Heidi Klum says in Project Runway, 'one day you're in, the next day you're out.'

So what does content waste have to do with this?

Think about it! How many times have you created a piece of content, posted it once, and then never used it again?

You don't because you're worried EVERYONE saw it the first time around. So you leave your once used content gathering dust in your Trello boards, ClickUp, or whatever content organizer you use. Don't worry. It's a common fear.

The thing is, due to the algorithms, it's impossible that your entire network will see your content the first time or even the second. And who cares if some of them did anyway? It's a great reminder of the message you were trying to share. Especially if they didn't take your desired action the first time around.

Content waste no different than throwing away the dried-out bread. Yes, it's a little stale. But you can turn it into beautiful crispy, crunchy croutons to use on the top of salads. Or a nice warm pan of Pane Cotto with Swiss Chard (link to my recipe at the top of this post).

What can you do to reduce content waste AND make showing up easier?

Start repurposing and reusing all that beautiful content. You'll not only save time and money, but you'll also find it so much easier to show up consistently.

I'm mean seriously guys, how do you think I show up in so many places every freaking week, day in and day out for years, now?

I might cook almost daily! But I'm not creating new content every damn day. Instead, I'm squeezing the ROI out of all my content. It helps me show up consistently, quickly, and easily while spending an hour or less online per day.

Reducing Content Waste Saves You Time

I don't know about you but I only have a limited amount of time per day that I WANT to work. The rest, I want to spend working with clients or doing the other things I enjoy in life. Spending time with family and friends, out hiking, cooking is way more important to me.

Repurposing and reusing all the content I've already created helps me keep my 90-day visibility calendar FULL. AND only has me creating four to five new pieces of content per week, max. Btw, I only spend about two hours once every 3-months organizing my visibility calendar. Not only can I show up easily in at least six to eight places but also multiple times per day.

Since I organize my visibility calendar by themes, it's easy to do a simple search for the keywords I'm using. This saves me loads of time (cutting two to three hours off my daily work time). It also helps build my authority on the topics I'm talking about because I focus in-depth with plenty of content on that topic for a week.

Want to start saving time working on your business?

Start repurposing and reusing all that existing content you've created and get a visibility calendar.

Lowering Your Business Expenses While Increasing Your Content ROI

Are you paying someone to help create content for you? Or paying for photos or videos to use with your content? And let's not forget about your creation time.

Creating new content is NOT cheap.

Time is valuable. Whether it's your time or someone you're paying to help you. The more time spent doing things in your business, the more it increases your costs. This means the more times you can repurpose and reuse a piece of content, the more you lower your business expenses. You also increase your ROI for each piece of content, and make it easier to show up consistently.

For me, this is one of my favorite things to pass onto my VA. She transforms the content into new with a quick update or refreshes or turns it into a completely new piece of content. Then she tosses it onto my visibility calendar for posting later.

Sounds like a dream, doesn't it?

I can promise you that it is, whether I'm doing it or she is.

Reducing your content waste using repurposing and reusing will save you so much freaking and help you reduce your business costs, so don't skip this step.

Quick Action Tip

Get your content organized, so that it's easy to reuse.

I started out using Google Drive, then went to Trello. Now I'm using ClickUp to keep my content organized. There are a million and one other services out there to help you keep up with it all. So, don't skip this action step.

It's the only way you can easily repurpose and reuse your content.

If you're not already organized, get a VA to do it. Don't waste your time doing this task yourself.

Wrapping It Up

Isn't it time to stop leaving all that valuable content to sit and languish, gathering dust, in the content closet? And to start reusing and repurposing your dried-out, stale bread into croutons?

Not only will you get more consistent, but you'll also lower your costs, reduce waste, and increase the ROI on both your content and delicious tastes for your tummy. It all sounds like a win-win to me. But I think that about anything that makes my life easier.
