Tired of Chasing Likes? Why Adding Multi-Channel Magic is the Answer to Sustainable Marketing

Relationship Pillar:Uncategorized

So, last week I shared the near disaster focusing on one marketing channel almost caused me (missed it? Here's the link). And why email is a must have marketing channel!

This week, we're diving in deeper into why I highly recommend having multiple marketing channels and client streams. Plus, why having a mix of short- and long-term ones is freaking important for creating a sustainable marketing strategy. And I'm sharing what my multi-channels look like, plus the future expansion.

Let me start by addressing the elephant in the room - your objections - first.

How many of you immediately thought something like:

'I don't have time to manage multiple channels?'

'I'm already not getting enough clients from one channel?'

'How can I create enough content?'

I get it! Believe me, I do.

If you had told me back then, that one day I would be keeping up with email, 3 social channels, YouTube, networking, a 100+ conversations, client work, plus do several live speaking events per week, I would have laughed my ass off at you. Btw, I still have a life in all that!

I started off with my blog and Facebook (well actually MySpace was my first social channel! Anyone else code their own backgrounds?). Today, I'm hosting kickass weekly live streams on LinkedIn and YouTube with guests like sales coach Cynthia Zenti (catch the replay 👇).

So, what changed and how did I do it all?

First off, I got help. Second, I created a plan and sustainable marketing system for managing it all. It's the same system and plan I share with my clients today. Third, I built up the muscles to handle it.

Nope, it did NOT happen overnight!

And is it still damn hard at times? Absolutely. But when it gets hard, I have a plan in place for that as well. The marketing system I have today is the one I wish I had so much sooner. It's one my clients love using now.

It all comes down to balance and having that plan. I cannot say 'have a plan' enough! It makes the freaking difference when it comes to sustainable marketing that brings in the clients consistently. And the difference with your stress levels.

I can always tell when I've slipped from the plan because I start feeling overwhelmed and the brain monkeys start chattering. That's my sign to back off just a bit, go back to the plan, and continue 'muscle' building.

One of the 'secrets' to sustainable marketing is repurposing.

That kickass 45-minutes of pure gold live show about sales and closing the deal that I previously mentioned with Cynthia Zenti

We're going to chop it up into bite-sized videos - using AI - to share on LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram where we'll include a link back to the full video on YouTube. Plus, we shared the replay in the next newsletter and a blog. Then we'll use my 90-Day promotion calendar to plan out when it's going out and...

BOOM – one piece of content magic - across multiple platforms!

And the best part? You're creating once, using it everywhere.

Repurposing is a massive time saver! Suddenly, you're a content powerhouse on five channels – three short-term, two long-term – all thanks to a plan and a system. Even this blog post is repurposed from my regular newsletter! Multi-channel marketing doesn't have to be a scary overwhelming monster under the bed.

So, what are short-term and long-term marketing channels and why do they matter?

It matters A LOT to have a mix of both so that you create a steady flow of clients and build sustainable marketing that doesn't rely on any single platform. Here's why:

  • Short-Term Channels (Require Consistent Effort): These bring in clients quickly - you can start seeing results in as little as 2 weeks, with 90 days of consistent action being the sweet spot for tangible results - but require constant upkeep. If you stop, they stop! (social media, email marketing, live events)
  • Long-Term Channels (Set Up Once, Benefits Over Time): These take more time to set up and a longer period before you see results - usually around a year before they really start producing the desired results - but provide ongoing benefits. (websites, podcasts, blogs, YouTube channels)

Take my food blog (SEO + FB page), for example. Even though I haven't added new recipes in years, it still generates income due to the search engines, Facebook page, and commission-based apps. It's not producing much on autopilot, but it still is, even though I've neglected it for years.

That will not happen with social media or email marketing. You stop - the leads and clients stop. Which is why having a mix helps build sustainable marketing that keeps sucking you dry. The long-term will keep producing when you need to slow down on the short-term ones - like if you got sick and couldn't work for a few days.

But where the 'real' magic happens is when you connect these channels.

My signature marketing framework combines the compound effect of using short term channels to boost results and gain traction on long term channels faster. All while forming a continuous funnel (not one way) that keeps traffic flowing in multiple directions and gives people options for connecting with me.

Here's a Look at My Multi-Channel Marketing Balance:

Short-Term Channels (Require Consistent Effort):

  • Social Media: I leverage LinkedIn and Facebook (including a thriving FB group) for daily engagement. This year, I'm adding TikTok and Instagram to promote my newly revitalized YouTube channel.
  • Email Marketing: My email list is a core focus, allowing me to connect with my audience directly and consistently.
  • Live Engagement: I participate in guest speaking, training sessions, live events (masterclasses, challenges), networking, and even host a weekly LinkedIn Live show called "Talking into Profits."

Long-Term Channels (Set Up Once, Some Maintenance, Benefits Over Time):

  • Blog: My blog will be refreshed later this year, providing in-depth content and driving traffic to other channels.
  • YouTube: With my renewed focus on YouTube in 2024, I'll be creating valuable video content.
  • Website (Future Channel): My website will be revamped later this year to serve as my digital home base.
  • Book (Future Channel): I'm working on writing a book, which will be another long-term content asset.

By having this mix of short-term and long-term channels, I can create a steady flow of content, engage with my audience, and build a sustainable business that doesn't rely on any single platform. And I can help you do the same!
